Our Journey Forward: Strengthening Community in Changing Times Putāruru, 08/05/2025

Pride in Putāuru has always been about people—the connections we foster, the support we provide, and the shared vision for a stronger, thriving region. Through major events, fundraising initiatives, and grassroots efforts, we’ve built something lasting.

As changes in funding shift how we operate, we must adapt—but our commitment to community will not waver. We remain dedicated to creating spaces where people feel connected, valued, and empowered. The way we deliver our services may change, but the heart of what we do remains the same.
Our signature events will continue, standing as a testament to the resilience of this region. But we will also embrace new ways of working—leaning into the strength of our people, reimagining collaboration, and ensuring that the essence of what we’ve built continues to flourish.
“This is a moment for reflection and innovation,” refining how we deliver impact while staying true to the guiding values that make this community what it is.
As we enter this next chapter, we welcome the voices and ideas that will shape our future. Together, we will ensure that what matters most endures—connection, community, and the shared purpose that brings us all together.

Fleming - Better Eggs Marketing Coordinator.

Pride in Putāruru have renewed their community person celebration as the Prattler Person of the month, with the honours going to an Organisation  - Better Eggs

The current administration area, Egg-Quarters, is the original
site of the egg business in 1976.

“Our links to Putāruru run deep,” says Gareth van der Heyden, CEO of Better Eggs.
“My grandparents immigrated to Lichfield and eventually
settled in Putāruru. Today, we employ a large part of our
team from the South Waikato, and we’re proud to support
the communities where our people live and work. There’s
so much good happening in the South Waikato, and we
want to be part of it - we want to do our bit.”
One major step in giving back to the community is Crack
Open the Chat, a powerful mental health event held at
The Plaza featuring Sir John Kirwan - Westpac Ambassador
and Marc Gascoigne.
Beyond that, Better Eggs actively supports local causes - sponsoring the Putāruru Rugby Club junior teams, the town’s Christmas parade, and Ronald McDonald House, which local families rely on.
